Each of us has experienced pain and emotional distress simply through being human. We have all developed coping mechanisms in order to help us survive. And we have experienced a failure of those mechanisms when things around us change and we don’t know how to manage anymore.
Issues covered include: General counselling, loss and bereavement; stress; anxiety and panic; depression; relationships; childhood trauma, abuse and neglect; sexual assault; difficult or traumatic life events; despair and hopelessness; suicidal thoughts and feelings, eating disorders, personal development.
This might be set off by a single event, a string of occurrences, an inner world overwhelmed by changes in the environment, a change that we have instigated in order to build a life more aligned with who we know ourselves to really be, or the stress of holding onto traumatic life events for too long without support.
It can appear suddenly or be the result of many instances building up to the unbearable.
We can feel depression, anxiety, fear, anger, shame, stuckness, panic, a deep grieving, a sense of not being able to cope very well… all the reasons you may be reaching out for some help right now.
I offer a warm, empathic and compassionate space where you can share your experiences and explore what’s happening for you in a way you may not be able to do within your current life and relationships.
I like to work with what is emerging for you in the moment.
Essentially, we all need to dig around in the basement a bit, sit on the roof and look at the stars a bit, but we live in our kitchens: how can we bring that which is buried into the light and that which exists in our dreamings into our daily lives and relationships?
Integrative Psychosynthesis is a model of counselling which draws on a wide range of tools. By drawing on techniques and teachings from many different psychotherapuetic styles, we will find the most appropriate approach, to help you find your way to wholeness.
My training integrates concepts from Jungian, Gestalt, relational, psychodynamic, neuroscience, body psychotherapy and family systems theory.
It is also a Soulful approach, taking into account that we as human beings are not just our mind nor just our body nor just our emotions, but a soul as well which has it’s own calling.
Whatever the reason you feel drawn to this work, let me know and we can talk through what you are looking for, how Counselling could be of use to you in your particular situation and what you might encounter in the course of the work.
Drop me an email or give me a call and I’ll be happy to discuss working with you on whatever it is that’s bringing you to find a new way of being in your world.
I usually offer sessions that last 50 minutes and are held on a weekly basis, however I am happy to contract for either longer sessions or more often depending on what it is we are working on and what feels best to support your needs. This would be discussed in our first session so as to find a way to go forward together in the work.
